bible and tea pot

Everything I write, everything I do, everything I think, everything I am is colored by my belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God, that He came to earth clothed in human flesh, that He lived a blameless life, that He was nailed to a cross to pay the penalty for my sin, that He rose back to life in victory over death and the grave, and that He is now seated at the right hand of God the Father.

  • John 3:16

    — “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
  • Romans 5:8

    — “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
  • Romans 3:23-24

    — “…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God….”
  • Romans 6:23

    — “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
  • 2 Corinthians 5:21

    — “He who knew no sin became sin for us, that we may be made the righteousness of God through Him.”
  • Romans 10:9-10

    — “…if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
  • Romans 10:13

    — “…for Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

The important thing to remember is that none of us can ever earn our way to heaven. Salvation comes only by grace through faith. If you have never put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, I urge you to do so without delay. He promises to answer all who call upon His name.

Now that most of our children are grown (and half Now that most of our children are grown (and half are married with children of their own), we’ve instituted monthly potluck dinners — “Flanders Family Feasts”. We set up tables and benches outside and use paper plates to make clean up easier, and set a different theme each month. Last month was a baked potato bar. Dad and I provided the spuds, and the kids all brought their favorite toppings. 🥔 This month, we all made favorite French foods, like quiche, ratatouille, French dip sandwiches, tapenade & crostini, and crème brûlée. 🥐 Next month will be German fare like pretzels and bratwurst and sauerkraut in honor of Oktoberfest. 🇩🇪 It’s a wonderful opportunity to gather together as a family to visit with one another and give all the cousins (soon to be 28 of them) a chance to play! ❤️
